The two women went to sleep in each other’s arms, close, relishing the love that caressed their bodies in wondrous ways. It was the sound of a lonely coyote baying at the moon that brought Sky and Bobie back to reality.  Moving, slowly they gazed into one another's eyes, smiled and cuddled closer, until more sounds finally brought them fully awake.  Sky mumbled, "Too bad the coyote doesn't have a mate to keep it company."

Bobie whispered, "No wonder it is baying at the moon. Would be terrible to be alone wanting and missing--"

Sky dropped a light kiss on her lips and said, "I agree. Guess we need to get dressed and on our way to PS."

Bobie groaned, "Hate to leave your arms. But you are right. I am ready, if you are."  She traced several succulent kissed on Sky's neck and sat, then got to her feet and gazed down at the beautiful woman that lay gazing up at her with so much love in her eyes she felt she would melt on the spot.  "Sky when you look at me like that I know I am the luckiest woman in the world."

Getting to her feet, Sky replied, "I adore you. Never felt this would happen to me but I am so grateful you have come into my life Bobie Parker."

"Me too, you coming into mine."  She had dressed in quick time and was gazing out, trying to figure out where the coyote was. "Do you think it is on that knoll over there?"  She pointed to an area not far from where they were.

Sky pulled her tee over her head and walked to stand beside the woman.  Searching the area the best she could and replied, "Could be. Sound carries here so it could be just about anywhere.  Just glad it didn't come upon us."

Turning to gaze at Sky, Bobie asked, "Do you think it would have attacked?"

"No, but it probably would have been curious. We need to be more careful I guess, the beauty of this place is so breathtaking, and so serene gives a person a false sense of security."  She reached out and touched the end of Bobie's nose adding, "We are lucky it was just a lonely coyote, and not some slithering thing."

Slapping at her playfully Bobie said, “Not funny Richmond. And you know how much I dislike slithering things especially snakes.”

“I do. However, I am a bit serous; we need to be more cautious. When we get into Puerto Springs need to be on guard at all time.”

Bobie was helping her fold up the blanket as she said, “I agree. Course you must know the second they look at us any hope of finding out anything will be out the window.”

Sky placed the blanket in the jeep, turned and said, “Probably. However, we can go to that small café, get something to eat and drink. Coffee sounds good at this minute. And I am hungry.”

“Me too,” Bobie said, smiling and reaching up to caress Sky’s face, then turned and walked to the passenger side of the jeep and climbed in.

Sky sighed, took one last survey of the area and climbed in the jeep, turned the key on and soon they were on the way to Puerto Springs.

When they neared the small town, the moon was fading and it was obvious soon the sun would be peeking out. Neither spoke too much on the way. Sometimes not saying anything is much more than speaking, because a person’s heart speaks in loving ways and in so many wonderful melodies, there are no words needed.

Seemed most people were either still at home, or at work because the lone street that run through the town was empty.  Sky drove past many buildings and finally stopped in front of a quaint wooden structure. There was one large window that had the words, Lottie’s Diner painted in Script and a small sign that hung on the small diamond shaped window near the top of the door that read, open.

Bobie looked at Sky and said, “Doesn’t seem to be too busy. We should be able to get something to eat and drink.”

Stepping from the jeep, Sky put the keys in her right cargo pocket and said, “Should. It is open; let’s go see what Lottie has for vitals.”

Chuckling Bobie followed and was soon standing beside Sky who opened the door and they walked into a small room. It was like the outside, quaint not fancy, simple. There was a counter with six padded stools, six small wooden tables with six matching chairs, and a corner booth that looked more comfortable than the chairs, so they headed for the booth.   Sky slid in on the right side and Bobie slid in on the left. They glanced at one another, smiled and looked around the room.

The smell of perked coffee was drifting out from the kitchen and it was all Sky could do not to get up and head for the swinging door near the counter that led to the kitchen.  Bobie tapped the table with the fingers of her right hand and said, “Surely they know we came in.”

Sky pursed her lips, glanced at a sign on the wall that pointed to the restrooms before saying, “Sure they did. We are hard not to notice especially in this town. I’m going to go check out the restroom, if someone comes, order me what you get”

Bobie nodded and watched Sky vanish. She leaned back and gazed at the ceiling, it was made of crisscrossed logs they looked like the bark had been removed, giving them a fresher look compared to the other parts of the building. A ceiling fan that looked like it had seen better days hung from the middle of the ceiling. There was what looked like a Jack Rabbit with Antlers mounted on the far side of the room, under it a small  plaque that read, Jackalope.  She sighed, and wished Sky would hurry back, a chill ran up and down her back and she knew it wasn’t cold.

“What can I get you?”  A woman’s voice, reached out and grasped Bobie bringing her back to the present for her mind was taking a walk that had her a bit unsettled.  She stared up to see a middle-aged woman, her skin was tan and it looked like she may have spent a great deal of time in the outdoors. She was thin, nervous her face screwed tight. She had pale blue eyes that peeked out at Bobie from sun-reddened lids; she wore a red-checkered dress with a white apron tied around her waist. She looked like a good puff of wind would blow her away it was obvious the woman was not in the best of health.  She was probably around five foot four.

“Are you all right?”  The woman asked holding a pencil in one hand and a small pad in the other.

“Yes, fine. What do you have on the menu for breakfast?”  Bobie tried not to look directly at the woman but kept coming back to the bruise on her left arm.

The woman glanced back toward the kitchen and said, “Don’t get many newcomers in here. You ain’t from these parts, what brings you this way?”

“My friend and I are hungry. Maybe we could have some wheat toast, couple of pouched eggs and coffee?”

She scribbled something down on the pad in her hand and said, “This ain’t the city, no pouched eggs here and no wheat toast, scrambled be all right?”

Bobie nodded adding, “Whatever you have for bread, toasted and coffee, thanks.”

The woman strode past the swinging door and disappeared. She almost collided with Sky who was on her way back to the booth. Once she was seated, she looked at Bobie, raised an eyebrow and asked, “What has her knickers in a twist?”

Bobie replied, “Too much to go into at the moment. You look refreshed. My turn, oh tried to order poached eggs and wheat toast, could not so we will get scrambled eggs and not sure what kind of bread. Be right back.”

Sky looked at her quizzically and wanted to ask why but Bobie was gone before she could muster up the words. She leaned back and gazed around the room. Didn’t take long for the woman to return with two mugs, filled with steaming coffee. She set them in front of Sky and said, “Here’s the coffee, eggs and biscuits will be out soon.  Where is the other one?”

Sky was blowing on the coffee, raised her eyes and stared at the woman, took a sip then said, “Restroom. You are keeping some sort of score?”

“Just like to know where people are that’s all.  I asked your friend where you are from, she ignored me how about you?”

Sky was not liking the woman being so nosey but decided to go with it and said, “Not from around here.”

The woman stepped back folded her arms across her chest and said, “Figured that. Don’t get many strangers here unless they are filming some movie or TV show. You two actresses?”

Sky almost choked on the coffee finally catching her breath she set the mug down and said, “Nope.”

“Been looking yonder at the jeep and if you are not with some movie company, then you must be with that arc--olgy group.”

Bobie was on her way back to the booth; she smiled toward Sky and slid into the booth. Immediately grasping the mug and taking a drink. “So good, more please?”

“Ain’t drunk that yet.”  The woman squinted toward her. From the looks of you two, I would guess the group. Since neither of you deny it.”

Sky stood, reached out a hand and said, “Skylar Richmond, this is Bobie Parker and yes we are with the ‘group’.”

The woman hesitated but did shake her hand and say, “Lottie Daniels.  Hope there are no hooligans with your outfit last thing this town needs is that.”

Sky sat back down and replied, “No ‘hooligans’.  Just doing a little work, we will not disturb anyone, but we will from time to time come into town for supplies, and maybe a few other things.”

Bobie had finished the coffee and was trailing her tongue around the top. For the first time, Lottie grinned and said, “Be right back with your vitals and more coffee.  Ain’t she charmin’.”  It wasn’t a question, just an observation and for some reason Bobie had tickled the woman’s funny bone.

Sky turned to gaze at Bobie who set the mug down looked at her and asked, “What?”

“Nothing, only you finally got Lottie to smile and that may be a first.”

“People in this place are strange. Wish she would hurry up with the food, my stomach is making noises big time.”

Sky nodded and said, “Mine too. We burned a lot of calories last night, need some fuel to replenish.”  She glanced at her wristwatch adding, “Won’t be long before Bern and the guys show up here. We best be ready.”

Lottie returned with two plates of scrambled eggs, biscuits, butter, honey and their own carafe of coffee.

Bern and Jim had been pacing the area for a while. Finally, Bern stopped and said, “The girls did not come back last night and it is obvious they are not here now. I think we had best get ready to drive into Puerto Springs. If I know Sky, she and Bobie are all ready there.  I called ahead last night to see if I could track down a water truck and some containers. If things go right, we will find them at the town’s water supply.”

“You get stuff ready, I’ll go wake Steve and Ken so we can get going.”

“Bern?”

He turned and asked, “What?”

Jim ran both his hands through his hair and said, “Why do you think Sky and Bobie are all ready there?  Maybe they had some sort of trouble.”

Bern gazed at Jim Dillon and the concerned look that covered his face; it was obvious he liked both women. “Because, Sky likes to go in ahead and check things out. Besides, the four of us might give the town people a little shock, specially those two dressed in military garb. Look more as if they are on some sort of reconnaissance mission.  Sky and Bobie going in ahead may sooth some nerves.”

Shaking his head Jim seemed more upset than before. “Maybe you could tell those two to dress down. Might keep someone from taking a shot at us or at the women.”

Bern looked like he was in deep thought before he muttered, “When you are right, you are right, what do we have to fear from those people. I’ll tell the boys to dress more for the occasion.”

Jim nodded as he watched the man head for Ken and Steve’s tent. At the same time, he was trying to figure just what type of dress would be suitable for getting water. Smiling to himself, he wondered if Sky and Bobie were indeed in PS.  Town would be in for an awakening because those two were not ordinary in any way.

A little later, when the two men emerged from their tent, they were dressed in form fitting Khaki tees, Khaki pants and wearing black army boots. He shook his head and thought, still look military to me.

Once they were all on their way, Ken and Steve in one jeep, Bern and Jim in the other, Jim turned to Bern and said, “Those two may have dropped the standard military clothes but what they are wearing now they still look like . . .”

Bern was doing his best to miss the many potholes in the road as well as roadrunners, the birds were fast and he was glad for that. He heard Jim babbling on about Steve and Ken and finally replied, “Darn it man, you got some sort of jealously thing going?  ’Fraid they might cut in on your time with--”

“Don’t even go there Bern.  I am trying to think about everyone. The muscles on those two put a body builder to shame. No one is going to believe they are just water boys.”

Bern chuckled and said, “Well not boys but sure ’nough men. I felt we may need some backup and they come well qualified. Don’t go worrying yourself; no one will come between you and the women, they like you and for those two that is the most important.”  A frown took a walk across his forehead and did not go unnoticed by Jim.  He stared at the man; he had everything going for him, looks, talent in many areas as well as money. The man exuded the green stuff, even if he didn’t show it.

They had been driving for a while when Bern turned off the road and said, “I see tire tracks, could be the women, might as well take a look, just in case you were right and they did have trouble.”

Jim sit up in the seat, leaned forward placing a right hand on the dash and strained his eyes taking in the area. “You really think it is them?”

“Don’t know, but we will soon see if it is the women.  Looks like the guys decided to stay behind and wait on us. Good idea.”

“Looks like this ends up there. And I don’t see anything.”  Jim leaned back against the seat adding, “You were right, they didn’t have trouble. Probably having a good breakfast while waiting on us.”

Bern pulled the jeep to a stop, turned the engine off and climbed out. Jim watched him with a perplexed look but finally stepped out too and walked toward the man. “What?  Do you see something?”

Moving the dirt with his boots as if sweeping he replied, “Nope, just some tracks, look like coyote. No sign of the two women.”

Jim ignored Bern and his sweeping, decided to look around the area. He stood hands on hips, and murmured, “That is beautiful.”

Bern looked up for a second then finished what he was doing, and said, “Sure is, this is a nice spot, can imagine what it looked like at night, that moon was bright and full.”  Guess we should head back down, be on our way, by now Sky and Bobie may have the whole town awaiting our arrival.”

Jim nodded, looked down at Bern’s boots and said, “Got them dirty. Did you find any arrow-heads?”

Tipping his head to the side, Bern asked, “Arrow-heads?”

Getting into the jeep, he replied, “Yea, you know, Indians used to whittle, chip however they did it, used certain types of rock to form arrow-heads then attach them to arrows. Like in bow and arrows.”

“Oh gotcha.  Me sifting through the dirt. Nope didn’t find anything.”  His mind wandered as he thought, it was a lover’s moon and the signs pointed to the two women enjoying every moment of it. He wouldn’t mention this as it was their business, still he wished; Sky would give him a tumble.

The moment they were on the main road again, if one can call it a road, the other two pulled up behind and followed. Jim stared out the side and marveled at the antelope running not far from where they were. He recalled one time when he and Sky were out riding checking a fence line the antelope they came upon. And just how fast they could run as well jump. Amazing how quickly they changed gait.  He also knew that Bern was doing his best to cover up any sign that Sky and Bobie had been there. The man was still infatuated with Richmond.

Sky and Bobie enjoyed the leisurely breakfast left a generous tip and were now at the Rainbow Inn. It too was built of wood, with a simple taste as well. It didn’t take them long to enter the building and walk up to the desk. A shorter dark haired man wearing jeans, and a denim shirt, stood behind the counter. He seemed to be busy reading something. Sky finally cleared her throat and said, “Excuse me; we would like to rent several rooms.”

He looked up gave her a go away stare and went back to reading.  Bobie gave it a try and said, “Sir, if you can pull yourself away from whatever you are looking at, we would like a room.”

He sighed, placed both hands on the counter stared directly into her eyes and said, “We’re full.”

Sky motioned with her eyes toward Bobie who quickly understood. She walked toward the side and went to open the gate as the man dashed to stop her. Sky reached out grasped the sign in book and flipped through the pages. When she finished she said, “Seems to me you have a lot of empty rooms.”

He turned to see she had the book in her hand and gave Bobie a hateful look then stepped back to where Sky stood, book in hand. “Working on them, don’t you two get it, there are no rooms for you.”

Sky grinned and said, “If you don’t give us the key to at least three of the rooms available and make them within the same area I will hop over this counter and make you wish you had.”

He gulped, stepped back as his eyes traveled the length of the tall woman, taking in every curve, every rippling muscle and said, “Don’t want any trouble.”  He reached back and returned with three keys. “Room 5, 6 and 8 There is no food delivery here, and check out time is--”

Sky took the keys saying, “When we decide to check out we will let you know. How much do I owe you?”

He replied, “Just sign the book, I’ll keep track and you can pay me when you leave.”

Bobie leaned forward and said, “Never heard of a place doing business like that. It is either credit card or money.”

He raised his eyes to the ceiling and said, “This is not an ordinary business. If you are through harassing me I have to get back to work.”

Bobie had been able to see what the man was so enthralled in and said, “Butler did it.”  As they turned and headed for the stairs.

Sky asked, “What butler did it?”

Bobie chuckled and said, “He was knee deep in a Jessica Fletcher novel, I just gave him the ending.”

“That was ornery of you.”  Sky chuckled, taking two stairs at a time.

Bobie followed as fast as she could and when she reached the landing, she asked, “And he wasn’t?”

The woman was looking for the room numbers as she nodded, saying, “He was worse.  Sure didn’t want us here, if we get a chance maybe a bit of JF’s skills could be put to work, find out just why he was so adamant at being full when it is apparent this place is not.”

Bobie was gazing down at the red carpet that looked like it had seen better days. The area looked just like any other, except most places had many people milling about. This was empty except for the clock on the wall making a tick tick sound it was eerie.

Sky finally found the rooms and asked, “Which one shall we take?”

Shrugging, Bobie said, “As long as it has a bed, bathroom I will be just fine.”

“I would imagine they all do.  Here is the key to 8, I’ll check 5 and 6, then come back and we can decide then”

Sky took the key, gazed at the large number 8 on it and asked, “The other two rooms are for the guys?”

“Yes, they might need to stay over at times, give them a place to freshen up catch up on some rest. Anyway thought it would be a nice thing to get them a room too.”

“It is.  Hope they appreciate it. Should be here soon. I’ll check out 8 be right back.”

When Bobie returned she could see that Sky was in room 6, so she walked in and said, “Looks like this one.”  She walked around the room, and then made her way to the bathroom. Finally came out and professed, “Take your pick, they are the same.”

Sky stood, gazed around the room and said, “I pick 8 it is at least one door away from these two. Not that we need a lot of privacy and will have none when the men arrive. Just thought it would feel some better. How about you?”

“Sounds good to me, as long as we are together.  I will sleep on the floor if I have to.”

Sky put her arm around Bobie’s waist and said, “Let’s go take a look at our room, freshen up before the men folk get here.”

As they left the room, closed and locked the door, a pair of eyes was watching them from a hall closet not far away.

When Bern, Jim and the other two finally drove into the town of Puerto Springs, it was nearing mid-day.  There were a few people milling about the area but not as many as one might expect.  Didn’t take long for Jim to point the way to the town water supply.  Before they neared, Bern raised an eyebrow and said, “Looks like the two trucks are there. All we need to do is check them, fill them up and--”

Jim bit at his lower lip and muttered, “And before that, maybe we should look for the women.  Two trucks, thought you only asked for one.”

Turning his head, Bern said, “If they have an extra truck I asked if it could be rented and it is obvious they do. Man, you got it bad. I’ll bet you a steak dinner; they are probably someplace lounging at this very minute.”

“You’re on.”  Jim reached out and shook his hand then added, “Can we check on them?”

“Sure. Let me talk to the owner here, make sure those are our trucks then head back into town and look for the other jeep. Shouldn’t be hard to find, don’t see too many vehicles out and about.”

Jim seemed to be satisfied nodded and pointed to the man standing waving them in.  When they were satisfied, the trucks were indeed the ones Bern had ordered, they told the man they had two friends that they needed to find in town but would be back to get the trucks.  Once Bern had finished his business, they headed back to town, leaving Steve and Ken with the trucks.

After going up and down the street several times, Bern said, “Guess we need to check out the parking lots or side streets. It was at this time, Jim exclaimed, “There, I see it.”

Bern slowed the jeep and gazed in the direction Jim was pointing, he then looked at the building setting nearby and said, “You owe me.”

Jim looked at him quizzically and asked, “Why?”

He pointed and said, “Because, they are in the hotel.”

Shaking his head Jim replied, “Naw. They are probably--”

Bern turned onto the lot and parked next to the Jeep. Turned off the ignition, and said, “‘Probably’ lounging. Let’s go see.”

Jim shook his head but did follow the man into the Rainbow Inn. He gazed at the lone man behind the counter looking like he was a blowed up bullfrog.  As they approached, he asked, “Someone upset you?”

The man looking irritated stared at the young man and replied, “Smart-alecky blond, ruined my story.”

Bern grinned, winked at Jim and asked, “Would this blond happen to be with a tall redhead?”

He folded his arms across his chest and mumbled, “Yes.  You here for them, tell me you are here to take them away.”

Jim raised his eyebrows as Bern asked, “Where can I find them?”

He said, “Room 5, 6 or 8.”

Jim went to ask the man something but Bern grabbed him by his right arm and said, “Come on, let’s go see what they are doing with three rooms.”

Jim was still trying to get past the fact they were there but had three rooms. What in the world, were they going to do with three rooms?

The two women had just stepped from the shower looking for the towels. Sky found two and tossed one toward Bobie saying, “Catch.”

Bobie reached out, grasped the towel, and said, “Thanks. I feel a lot better, how about you?”  She began to dry off.

Sky walked toward the mirror overlooking the washbasin, she toweled the steam off the mirror, gazed at her reflection and said, “It was nice. Best thing about it was you.”

Bobie was almost through drying off; she turned her head to gaze at Sky. It made no difference how often she saw her, each time was like the first. They say, ‘beauty is in the eye of the beholder’ and for her, Sky Richmond was so much more than beauty. However, the woman had the word sewed up in so many marvelous ways. A person could get lost just gazing at her from the flaming red hair that joyfully bounced as she walked, eyes that mesmerized,  the most adorable nose, Lips, sweet, full, tempting, delicate neck that took one further down to flawless skin and breasts that one may dream about but few ever see, she was breathtakingly voluptuous.

“Earth to Bobbie, hello.”

Bobie felt her face flush as she replied, “Sorry, daydreaming.”

Sky was running her graceful fingers through her hair like a comb as she said, “From the look on your face I would say it was quite the daydream.”

Bobie looked for her clothes and went to pick them up, immediately getting dressed she said, “I was--wa . . . You got me. I was lost in your beauty.”

Sky was also putting her clothes on as she edged closer to Bobie, she smiled leaned over and whispered in her ear, “I was lost in your beauty sweetheart. You heard right, I too traveled and loved you even if we were not touching.”

Bobie walked very carefully to a chair and sat, she looked up at Sky and said, “Talk like that has my body feeling things it should not at this time.”

Sky walked over, sit near her and said, “Love, you can gaze at me anytime you want, I am yours as you are mine, we are one. Now anyone else does this I would knock him or her on their butt. That goes for you as well, anyone dare look at you in a loving way, and they had better have a good reason.”

“Wow!  I never  knew you were the jealous type, like that anyway.”

“Never had a reason to be till now. Does that bother you?”

“No. just hope you think before you happen to strike.”

“I would never harm anyone for looking unless it was a lecherous look. You are safe and so is Jim.”

Bobie gulped, stood looked down at Sky and mumbled, “You, you know?”

Sky reached out and grasped her right hand; she held it softly and ran a finger in a circular motion on the palm of Bobie’s hand. “It is hard not to see the way he looks at you. I know he has a crush on you. Can’t blame him.”

“But, you never said anything. And you are driving me nuts with your finger.”  She leaned over and without saying a word, placed a soft slow caress as  her lips traced Sky’s with sweet passion, Sky moaned, reached up and pulled Bobie down as the two carefully landed on the floor amid several towels.

The next few minutes they were oblivious to anything except the need of their bodies and the love that filled the room with every fiber of their being. They were lost in a land of euphoric pleasures and it took a bit of time for them to realize someone was pounding on their door.  Sky lay back, placing her right arm on her forehead, her other hand lying on Bobie’s chest she exhaled and said, “Someone is at the door.”

Bobie laid her head on Sky’s chest, snuggled closer and replied, “Probably that dimwit at the desk wanting to know if we need anymore towels.”

They chuckled but the banging did not stop as they heard the words, “Richmond, Parker, get your lazy butts out of bed and open this door!”

Sky’s eyes widened, as Bobie sit up and said, “Oh my God, it’s Bern. Look at us we are a mess.”

Sky sat, tossed a towel toward Bobie and said, “Dry off, we are both glowing, no need for the boys to be right.” She stood and began to dry at the same time looking for her clothes.  Sky called out, “Hold your horses, be right there as soon as I can!”  She glanced back and could see that Bobie had dressed and pointed to the bedroom. They barely made it before the door opened and a very distraught Bernie Herbella and Jim Dillon paraded into the room.

Bernie scowled at the two women who were standing close; both looked like they had just come out of a steam bath. He turned to gaze at Jim and said, “Bingo.”

Jim looked like a student that lost his lunch money as his bottom lip protruded and his eyes looked down. “Right you are. You know um better than I do that’s for sure.”

Sky reached up to brush her hair off her forehead and asked, “ How did you get in here?"

Bern replied, "Credit card, works every time."

"What is this Bingo thing?”  Sky shook her head in disbelief  not sure what to say in regard to Bern using the credit card to enter the room.

Bern walked toward the bathroom, gazed at the towels on the floor then turned and replied, “Ol’ Jim here thought you two might be in trouble and need our help, I bet him a steak dinner that you two were lounging. As you can see I won.”

Sky pointed to the two upholstered lazy back chairs that were in the room and said, “Take a load off fellas. We need to talk.”

Sky and Bobie sat on the edge of the bed as the two men chose a chair and plunked down. Bern was tapping his fingers on the arm of his chair as Jim was tapping his right foot on the floor.  Bern raised his eyes to meet the two womens and said, “Are you going to tell me the two of you were in here all about work?”

They gazed at one another and shook their heads. Sky took a deep breath and said, “We needed or I should say wanted to freshen up. Long night. Hot shower, well causes steam. Hope you have nothing against showering. You are right; we did not come to this room to work.”

Bobie smiled, then did her best to look at the ceiling saying, “Sky thought of you guys also. She rented rooms for you.”

Bern’s eyes met Jim’s as they chorused, “You rented us rooms?”

Sky stood and began to pace the floor. “Yes. Thought that maybe you might want to stop from time to time, rest, freshen up.” She walked to a nightstand, picked up two keys, and tossed them toward Bern and Jim. Room, 5 and 6 there are four of you so you make the decisions on who stays where and when.  Or you could go argue with that desk clerk and rent more rooms all up to you.”

Jim stared at the key and said, “This is nice of you. I think we might have made a mistake Bern.”

Bern stood, walked toward Sky and before she knew what was happening, he planted a long wet kiss on her lips stood back and smiled at the surprise on her face saying, “Thanks, I think Jim and I are going to go freshen up. By the way, we left Ken and Steve out by the town water supply. They are guarding the trucks. Since the two of you have already freshened up how about you go out to the water tower and send the boys back here. Oh and go ahead fill the trucks and the containers with water. In addition, each one of you drive a truck back to the campsite. Don’t worry about the jeep; I will have Jim drive it back. And the other two can take the containers of water.  That is after we all freshen up.”

Sky chewed at her bottom lip, Bobie stood and bit her tongue before she said something she would hate herself for later. Bern had just given them a dressing-down and there was nothing they could do about it. Bobie looked hopelessly at Sky and said, “Guess we should get going huh?”

Sky nodded walked to the door and held it open saying, “Go freshen up, we’ll be at camp.”

After the two men exited, she shut the door and cursed.  Bobie hunted for their footwear and finally found hers. Didn’t take long to slip into them.

Sky was hopping around the room on one foot trying to get hers on but the woman was still muttering to herself. Finally, they stood at the door gazing back at the room.  Sky mumbled, “Didn’t know that Bern was going to do that.”

Bobie raised her eyebrows and replied, “Surprised me too. That man can kiss.”

“That all you have to say.”

“Well he is Bernie Herbella; the man has been in your life a lot longer than me. We both know it was his way of being macho.  I didn’t like it but have to be fine with it. Not much we could have done anyway.”

“I know.  Still Bern and I are going to have a heart to heart chat. Jim looked so downtrodden. Told you, I know he cares about you.”

“In a way this is good, because who knows as crazy as this place is, we just may have been in trouble. At least we know they will come looking for us.”

Sky reached out and caressed Bobie’s face saying, “But will they again. Come on we have some back breaking work to do and it is a long drive to the campsite, just hope it is still there.”

Bobie nodded and said, “Me too. Seems there is some sort of shape shifting happening and the camp could be next.”

As they left the room and Sky locked the door, Bobie asked, “Do you think Bern put all this on us, to teach us a lesson and tire us out?”
